For sale is one plaster statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. This belonged to a relative and I have no idea where she got it or how old it is.
This figure is @ 18" in height, and about 4" x 4.5" at the base. The statue appears to me to be made of plaster with an integrated wooden base, by which I mean I can not see how it is attached. Because of its finish and material, I would say this was not made for outdoor exposure.
There is a metal circular halo which, by two prongs, attaches to the figure's back. This is removable and not perfectly flat or round, but it's close as I tried delicately to form it so.
The base has two adhesive labels, one each to the back and front. The front reads "N.D. Lourdes". (I didn't know this before: N.D. stands for the French Notre Dame, or Our Lady.) The rear label reads "Made In Portugal".
If you study the pictures closely, you can see a raised "embroidery" around the hem of Mary's garment, as well as note the eyes which seem to be made of perhaps glass beads. This does give the face a quite realistic look.
Also, you might notice some very minor "scrapes" to the paint along the hairline and occasionally the gold trim, and chips to the figure's left hand fingers. Otherwise, this statue is in very good condition with a lovely expressive face and well-done paintwork.
