Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Germany Pitchers Pair DEC 6130 6131 Art Nouveau 1900s For Sale

Pair ofantique Villeroy & Boch Mettlach stoneware pitchers, circa1890–1910, featuring richly detailedhand-decorated figural scenestypical of the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) period.
Each pitcher is finished in a glossy brown glaze with cream interior, narrow pouring spout, and loop handle.

• DEC 6130 – Form 2785:Gentleman musician with pipe and feathered hat, under arched frame (tavern or rustic musician scene).

• DEC 6131 – Form 2786:Young scholar or scribe holding quill and book, under similar arched frame.

These were companion designs in Mettlach’s early 1900s catalog — often sold together as matched decorative pieces.

Both bases show original factory marks and codes confirming authenticity:

• Blue stamp:“Villeroy & Boch Mettlach” (winged cherub over banner or castle crest)

• Impressed form numbers:2785and2786

• Decoration numbers:DEC 6130andDEC 6131

• GES. GESCH.(design legally protected under German copyright law)

• Additional small impressed letters and digits (“A,” “02,” “3”) = batch or decorator codes.

These are genuine, cataloged V&B Art Nouveau pieces produced in Mettlach, Germany between1890–1910.
