American plunger-operated desk bell with cast gilt-bronze claw-foot base and cast bell dome. Fantastic eye appeal and ringing tone.

Base: cast \"PAT. AUG. 25, 1868\"

Plunger collar: cast \"APR. 8, 1870\" (a genuine second patent, mechanism not yet identified)

Hand-scribed shop mark: \"E.B.\" and \"1874,\" ahead of a style number

Size: Foot to foot 6\" wide base

Bell: 3:

Total height: 4 1/4\"

Mechanism works well but requires enough counter force to bounce back into rest.

Soaked in washing soda and mechanically brushed to neutralize brass disease.

Coated in renaissance wax to maintain metal.

Condition Detail: Shows signs of age and use. Most green removed. Did not scrub to ruin the original finish so there are some inert marks.
