Super hard to find original German picture frame with a half plate tin type photo. This photo was found with this frame and is original to the piece.
Frame shows a German soldier wearing a Pickelhaube helmet and a uniform with an Iron Cross, holding a document or scroll. Soldier is flanked by lions that extend down to the feet.
Sides of inner frame show crests and the reticulated crown at center top has the wording of German motto "IN TREUE FEST" (steadfast in loyalty or firm in fidelity).
Great frame made of heavy cast white metal and a tin or thin metal frame and easel to backside. Upper frame has tip of curtain rod bumped off - no other loss noted. (See photo).
Frame is marked in two places either DRGM #102 - DRGM stands for Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster, which translates to German Imperial Utility Model.
Very nice condition overall. Measures in full at 10 1/2” inches tall by 7 1/8” inches wide.
