VTG WW2 COLLINS & Co. LEGITIMUS MACHETE with original Sheath ~1945 Crown Hallmark Collinsville, Conneticut USA. Authentic from World War II, this machete measures 23" total with a 17.5" blade. 1.75" wide. Used, blade is still very sharp. The sheath is heavy canvas and the opening is reinforced with a band of strong metal that I can't bend enough to fully insert the knife. It will fit very well when bent. Both the knife and sheath show years of use but are excellent & historic.The Legitimus hallmark ~ a Crown on top of a Hammer ~ was stamped on Collins & Co. steel starting in 1880 to guarantee the piece was made of superior cast steel and to protect against counterfeits.
