This vintage Yogi Bear plastic money box was produced in England by Selcol Products Ltd. under license from Hanna-Barbera Productions during the early 1960s. Selcol manufactured a number of character toys and novelty banks during this period, and their Hanna-Barbera pieces have become highly collectible among vintage television and animation toy collectors.
This example represents the less commonly encountered UK “Money Box” version, which differs from the more widely known American “Soaky” bubble bath containers. Instead of a removable head used to dispense bubble bath, this model was manufactured specifically as a coin bank and features the original molded coin slot in the back of the neck. This structural difference is a key identifying feature of the English money box variant.
The figure depicts Yogi Bear wearing his signature hat and tie in a cheerful standing pose. The sculpt captures the classic Hanna-Barbera style from the era when The Yogi Bear Show was widely popular in early television animation.
Importantly, the bank still retains the original plastic bottom stopper, which is commonly missing on surviving examples. The presence of the plug confirms the piece remains complete as originally manufactured.
