Hydrostone, a casting material similar to plaster but stronger. Hydrostone is considerably harder than hydrocal and lacks the period of plasticity in the setting curve which enables the plaster to be worked directly. It is considered the strongest and hardest gypsum cement available.

Small chip on the top corner (see photo) and a chip on the bottom edge that's almost not visible when the piece is hung on the wall, as evident on these photos. It's in great vintage condition!
Very unique and rare vintage wall decor piece from the mid century era. It's a faux block of wood with relief carving of a man on a horse done in the tribal/primitive style achieved from a molding process. Lots of nice details with a very rustic appearance that gives this piece a strong tiki/tribal presence. The material is hydrostone, a casting material similar to plaster but stronger.
It looks to be a very strong and hard high-density foam very similar to sandpaper blocks (but much more dense) looks as a plaster or some other materials.
