A spectacular Vintage handcrafted Burnished Pelican Figurine from the Tonala ~ Jalisco region of Mexico. Acquired in the 1960s. Handpainted in varying shades of gray, black, cream and terra cotta.on traditional gray/tan background. This is a labor intensive crafting process where usually leather is rubbed over the piece to create a sheen. Measures nearly 5 3/4" high x 3 1/8" wide x 3 3/4" deep. In nice condition for it's age. There are expected paint scuffs and glazing skips ~ mainly due to age and storage and crafting technique. There is a chip on one foot (see photo) ~ does not detract from unique character and could be repaired if preferred
