Vintage Handcrafted Gabon African Folk Art Two Face Janus Reliquary Statue 22.5\"For your consideration today is just one piece out of a MASSIVE collection of beautiful hand-crafted African art pieces we are selling.This is a very RARE piece and as such is hard to identify, but it appears to be a Janus reliquary depicting two heads back to back; Hand carved, most likely from Sese wood, in Gabon and adorned with hammered metal (bronze?) decoration. Most likely used in ceremonies as it doesn\'t stand on its own and appears to have a grip for holding.Measures approximately 22.5\" tall x 9 1/2\" wide x 3 1/4\" deep.This is vintage and pre-owned; Estate found. This was part of a huge collection that was built and maintained over MANY years by its previous owners. There is wear and weathering that can be seen throughout from this pieces many years of handling and display, but nothing that takes away from the appearance of the piece. There may be some small nicks or chips in the wood. Being sold exactly as pictured above.
