Substantial vintage cross featuring ornate brass scrollwork and polished banded stone inlay. The stone has soft cream and gray bands with honey-colored streaks and appears consistent with material commonly called onyx marble, although the exact stone has not been verified.
Weighs approximately 5.25 pounds—remarkably heavy for its size. The metal displays aged patina, surface wear, and discoloration. Small circular marks are visible on the stone panels; please examine the detailed photographs.
Purchased approximately 30 years ago and kept in my personal collection. Exact age, maker, country of origin, and previous use are not factually proven, only hearsay from the previous owner.
This was presented to me during the sale as being from the 1940s.
But I was never able to track the chain of ownership. The previous owner bought it in Louisiana USA.
The reverse features metal backing plates secured with numerous slotted screws. Aged patina, discoloration, and surface scratches are visible. Please see front and reverse photographs for construction and condition details.
PLEASE stretch out EVERY photo.
Please review all photographs for construction, details, and condition. Measurements of the cross are approximately 15 and a half inches long, by 12 inches, and a width of 1 and 5/8 inches.
