RARE WWII FORT ORD, CALIFORNIA MILITARY SOUVENIR PHOTO FOLDER — FOLDER 30
Original vintage Fort Ord, California military souvenir photo folder produced by Wayne Paper Box & Printing Corp., Fort Wayne, Indiana. This unusual accordion-style fold-out contains a series of period black-and-white photographs documenting military training and life at Fort Ord during the WWII era.
The photographs show anti-tank and anti-aircraft training, machine guns, infantry exercises, engineers constructing bridges, bivouac areas, field kitchens, regimental review, church services, a pontoon foot bridge and the famous “Flying Jeep” training image.
The folder is marked “FOLDER 30” and the individual photographic panels carry catalog numbers including K-174, K-175, K-176, K-177, K-178, K-179, K-308, K-309 and K-310. Several panels are credited “Photo by Sgt. Joe Hinojos.”
The interior also contains historical descriptive text about Fort Ord and the surrounding Monterey/Salinas area, providing an interesting snapshot of the installation during its wartime expansion.
