Experience the peak of mid-century Northwoods vacation culture with this original 35mm slide from 1957. Captured in the scenic resort town of Minocqua, Wisconsin, the frame documents the rustic, charming architecture of the historic Lakeview Motel. A prominent commercial roof sign proudly displays the motel's name next to a vintage streetlamp post. For transportation and automotive historians, the courtyard serves as a magnificent showcase of postwar automotive design, featuring a spectacular lineup of parked 1950s vehicles including classic sedans with gleaming chrome bumpers, distinct whitewall tires, and rounded aerodynamic bodies. Shot during a crisp autumn afternoon framed by towering pines and changing fall foliage, this transparency offers a flawless window into mid-century travel infrastructure, regional hospitality history, and classic roadside Americana.
