Original WWII era United States Marine Corps grouping consisting of military insignia, marksmanship qualification badges, identification tags, Eagle Globe and Anchor emblems, assorted pins, and a period photograph displayed in a vintage folding presentation frame.
The grouping includes a matching pair of brass USMC identification tags named to C. K. Cahall, service number 525546. Both tags are stamped CAHALL, C. K., 525546, P, TYPE A, T 1/43, USMC. The markings include a January 1943 date notation.
Among the insignia are several Marine Corps marksmanship qualification badges and components, including a sterling silver USMC Carbine medal with target and wreath design, a Marine Corps Sharpshooter bar, a Bayonet qualification bar, and a Sharpshooter badge with Maltese cross and target design. The Carbine medal is marked STERLING on the reverse.
Also included are three metal Marine Corps Eagle Globe and Anchor insignia of varying sizes and finishes, along with assorted military pins, small coins or tokens, and additional metal insignia.
The folding presentation frame contains a period sepia photograph depicting a uniformed Marine standing beside a woman. The black frame features decorative gold borders surrounding the photograph and accompanying military memorabilia.
The collection has considerable age and wear throughout, including oxidation, verdigris, tarnish, discoloration, surface scratches, and deterioration to some of the metal finishes. Several badges have detached or missing components. The photograph and presentation frame also exhibit age related wear.
The identification tags provide a named connection to a WWII era Marine, although the identity of the individual pictured and the original ownership history of every item in the grouping have not been independently established.
An interesting assortment of WWII Marine Corps memorabilia, preserved together as a single collection. Everything pictured is included. Sold as found, with no cleaning or restoration performed.
