A wonderfully scarce little piece of American grocery and beverage advertising! This vintage Pep-Ade bottle contains its original imitation grape beverage base, complete with its colorful paper label and red metal screw cap.
The directions explain that the contents could be mixed with sugar and cold water to make approximately 20 glasses or one gallon of grape flavored soft drink. The label identifies Pep-Ade Flavor Products of Chicago, Illinois, and advertises five available flavors: raspberry, root beer, strawberry, cherry and grape.
Pep-Ade advertising has been documented as early as the late 1930s, making this a terrific display piece for a vintage soda collection, general store vignette, country kitchen, old-fashioned pantry or advertising collection. These small concentrate bottles appear to be considerably harder to locate than ordinary ready-to-drink soda bottles, especially with the original contents, cap and paper label still present. This label is marked 1946.
The bottle remains filled with its original vintage contents. The paper label shows authentic age, including fading, staining, creasing and areas of wear. The metal cap also has some expected surface wear. I have left everything exactly as found to preserve its original character. Please review all photos closely, as they are an important part of the condition reporting.
Sold strictly as a vintage collectible and display piece. Contents are not intended for consumption.
