Item Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The exterior chrome plating is highly reflective and free of dents, dings, or deep scratches. The original colored Bakelite accent disk at the stem is intact with no cracks or chips. The underside shows a crisp, fully legible Chase centaur maker's mark stamped directly onto the central assembly screw. Standard surface rust is present on the exposed inner cast iron weighting block on the underside, which is completely hidden during normal tabletop display. Up for sale is a stunning, 100% authentic piece of American Machine Age design: the "Minerva" Trumpet Vase manufactured by the renowned Chase Brass & Copper Co. circa the mid-1930s.
This iconic vase beautifully embodies the streamlined, geometric elegance of the Art Deco era. It features a sleek, vertically fluted chrome-plated trumpet body that flows seamlessly into a circular, stepped pedestal base. Nestled right between the body and the base is a contrasting orange/butterscotch Bakelite accent ring, giving it that classic, high-contrast 1930s look.
Because these vases were designed to hold water and tall florals, Chase cleverly engineered them with a heavy cast-iron internal stabilizer hidden in the base, making it incredibly sturdy and heavier than it looks.
