Vintage sterling silver smaller but sturdy(approx. 1" tall with bale loop and jump ring, ~ 3/4" without the ring; weight approx. 4.1 g)Roman Catholic medal featuringa detailed iconic image of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary with theChild Jesus and Archangels Michael and Gabriel depicted as Our Lady ofPerpetual Help, similar to a venerated 15th-century Byzantine icon. In theEastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches, this icon of the Blessed VirginMary is also known as the "Virgin of the Passion", or Theotokos (Mother of God) ofthe Passion, due to the instruments of the Passion held by the Archangels onboth sides of Mary with Jesus.The reverse displays an image of Pope Saint Paul VI with inscription in Latin: "PAULUS VI PONT MAX". The obverse bears the "800" print indicating solid silver of the 80% or .800 purity. It has been confirmed with the silver acid test for both the pendant and its jump ring. Origin likely c. 1960s-1970s Italy, in association with papacy of Pope St. Paul VI (1963-1978). The pendant hasvintage appearance with signs of wear due to age and devotional wearing, suchas diminished quality of the artwork, small deformations, dents, scratches, andpatches of silver patina or discoloration.
