The Founders & Estate: Harry Winchester Robinson and his wife, Virginia Robinson, built the city’s first luxury estate in 1911 at 1008 Elden Way (now preserved as the Virginia Robinson Gardens). Virginia Robinson later led the department store chain for decades.
The Wilshire Boulevard Store: On February 13, 1952, J.W. Robinson’s opened its landmark branch at 9900 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
Architecture & Design: The mid-century modern building was designed by architects William Pereira and Charles Luckman with interiors by Raymond Loewy.
