KEWA PUEBLO LORENZO TORTALITA (1925–1998) was anaward-winning Kewa Pueblo (Santo Domingo Pueblo) silversmith andactive jeweler whose career spanned from before the 1970s until hispassing in the late 1990s. Born to Cipriana Tenorio Tortalita andReyes Tortalita.Lorenzo was married to fellow Kewa Pueblosilversmith Vickie Reano Tortalita, and together they represented animportant chapter in the continuation of Pueblo silversmithingtraditions. A highly regarded artist, Tortalita exhibited annually atthe Santa Fe Indian Market from 1963 through 1998. His exceptionalcraftsmanship earned him a first-place award at the 1970 Santa FeIndian Market and a third-place award in 1977.Throughout hiscareer, Lorenzo’s work has been featured in numerous magazines andpublications.
