New in the shop this week is a beautiful, highly collectible 1975 "Super Pachinko" mechanical tabletop pinball machine. Made in Japan by Epoch, this classic home arcade game features striking mid-70s color graphics, multiple winning pockets, and a mechanical launcher mechanism.

• Cosmetics: In excellent vintage condition. Colors are extremely vibrant with no warping, fading, or major scuffs to the transparent front plastic viewscreen.
• Backside: The original rear instructional paper label remains completely applied, clean, and entirely legible.

Pachinko(パチンコ)Is The Name Of The Game!

The word is a Japanese onomatopoeia mimicking the "pachi-pachi" snapping, clicking, and crackling sounds made by steel ball bearings shooting up the track and bouncing off metal pins inside the machine.

• American Roots: Pachinko originated in 1920s Chicago as a flat children's tabletop game called the "Corinthian Bagatelle."
  
• Japanese Adaptation: Imported to Japan in the mid-1920s, candy shop owners used them on counters as children's games to win candy or fruit.
  
• Going Vertical: By 1930, adult players adopted the game in Nagoya. To save space and speed up play, builders flipped the board vertically and switched to metal ball bearings.
