This rare vintage folk art terra-cotta sculpture of Devils on a motorcycle is from the village of Ocumicho, Mexico.

Purchased in the early 1970’s in Mexico

Two devils, a large devil with his tongue out and a smaller devil are joy riding on a motorcycle. Colors are muted and beautiful.

Condition: some very minor paint and glaze losses throughout but otherwise in very good to excellent vintage condition - wear commensurate with age.

Measures 13” tall 8.5” wide x 3.5” deep

This rare vintage ceramic sculpture is from the village of Ocumicho Mexico, where in the 1960’s a man named Marcelino Vicente created his own genre of folk-art. While his life was tragically cut short in 1968, his work was emulated by other artists there who continued his style to this day. This piece is clearly from his day due to the colors used in the piece, new work from Ocumicho is painted with acrylic paints that are obviously newer. Marcelino Vicente never signed his pieces so we'll never know which ones he made, but he specialized in devils, so this one could be his but was most likely made by one of his followers.

It's a true work of art and one of a kind.
