NOTEWORTHY : COGSWELL & HARRISON IS ENGLANDS MOST FAMOUS GUNMAKERS, SILVERSMITHS, established 1770, MAKERS OF ENGLISH SHOTGUNS AND HUNTING FIREARMS THEIR GUNMAKERS VERY RARELY PRODUCED a KNIFE. DURING WWI and WWII THE GUNMAKERS PRODUCED A COMMANDO DAGGER. IN 1882 THEY MADE IN LIMITED QUANTITY THIS HUNTING FOLDING BOWIE KNIFE.
THIS KNIFE IS IN ITS ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC CONDITION, NEVER HAVING ANY RESTORATION OR REPAIR.

Pictured and offered for sale is this most rareBritish Hunting Folding Knife made by Englands famous Gunmakers Cogswell & Harrison circa 1882. This is a very rare knife, large and heavy, Noticethe thickness of the blade, pictured.
OPERATION: When knife is in its closed, folded position it is LOCKED into that closed position WITH NO wobble or wiggle. A 6 inch blade is exposed, allowing for use of a knife with a 6 inch blade. To move blade outward into a open and fully extended 10 inch blade for use, the button in the handles center area must be pressed. Unlocked, the user manually extends the blade open. When open, fully extend, it is now locked into the open position, NO wobble or wiggle. VIEW THE 3rd PICTURE. Viewing theHandle near the swing guards (either handle) there exists half moon cut outsbeneath the unlocking mechanism. These finger nail cut outs aid the user in lifting this piece. Lifting unlocks the blade to befolded closed. ALL THIS IS DONE WITH A GUNMAKERS PRECISION.
LEATHER SHEATH, SCABBARD. : Leather sheath is not original for knife. Knife does fit into it well. The leather and stitching is inexcellent condition.
CONDITION : There are two enlarged pictures together showing thebutt end of the knifes handles or scales. There are two small pin cracks. one is very tight, while the other is more open. Knife operates as designed, no issues.
