For sale is an extremely rare Iwasaki Tamahagane western style folding straight razor. The western style razors from iwasaki are much more rare then their kamisori counterparts as the machine used to make them broke down at one point and was never replaced so there are way less western style iwasaki razors and especially tamahagane vs traditional kamisori.
This is the shining jewel of any true razor conneisour\'s collection. One of the rarest and most expensive straight razors in the world due the craftsmanship and quality with which they were made and the advanced metallurgy that went into the steel and the heat treatment process. Known for taking very keen edges and rarely needing to be honed as well as being unusually tough for the extreme hardness and being resistant to micro chipping.
The razor was honed in a natural Japanese progression after the bevel was set on a chosera 1K. Nagura progression ran on asano stamped nagura bench stones from Ban to Koma and finally finished with a hard Nakayama Kiita w/ takashima kiita tomo nagura to a fine nakayama tamogoya tomo.
Stropped on premium vintage linen and Kanayama shell cordovan strop.
Blade width is 6/8
