An exceptionally rare Soviet vintage gas table lighter VATRA-901, featuring a highly unusual spherical body.
Virtually impossible to find for sale. Comparable examples are practically absent from and the open internet. This is a genuinely rare Soviet design piece.
The spherical body measures approximately 8 cm in diameter, with a metal ring running around the entire circumference. The futuristic form creates a distinctive Atomic Age / Space Age appearance, reflecting the bold futuristic aesthetics associated with the space era.
The lighter is fully functional, refillable with gas, and the flint can be replaced. The upper section features a high-quality mechanical lighter mechanism representing a Soviet copy of the Feudor lighter mechanism.
Original marking: VATRA-901
Diameter: approx. 8 cm
Weight: 86 g
Period: Soviet era, most likely 1980s
Condition: Very good vintage condition
The spherical construction makes this piece much more than an ordinary household lighter β it is a vintage art object and an unusual example of industrial design.
Please also see my other listings β I have the same spherical lighter in another color.
A very rare Soviet collectible, practically never seen on today's market.
