VERY RARE FELT Vintage Girl Scout Patch-CAMP TEPICON GIRL SCOUTS-1938-INDIANA For Sale

This is for a VERY RARE FELT Vintage Girl Scout PATCH. The printing on it is in good shape with only a small bit of felt backing missing on the top back-you can see it in the pictures. It looks like an ink spot but just see thru enough-no hole. It is for CAMP TEPICON GIRL SCOUTS This camp was in Winamac, Indiana from 1938-59. I don't think these Felt Patches were made much past the 1940's since embroidered patches were available then. The research I have found on this camp is interesting:

President Franklin Roosevelt was upset about the stock market crash and set up a Federal "Work Progress Administration " (WPA) to get the country back on track to help with the unemployment and to help the youth by creating outdoor Recreational Demonstration Areas (RDA). He found land that was not suitable for farming and turned them into camps for low income urban youth to give them an "uplifting and outdoor experience ". Camp Tipicon was one of these for Scouts and other clubs. These served youth from Gary, Michigan City and South Bend Indiana. He set up these camps to provide youth to develop " desireable healthy habits and improve social relationships and developing stability". The RDA ran the area until 1943 when the state took over the Winamac RDA property and Facilities and it was renamed the Tippecano River State Park but the camp still kept its name. The info says the Original Dining Hall has from Tipicon Camp is still the only structure of the 45 left and has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places by the National Parks Sevices. I have had this in my collection for over 40 years away from the elements. This is a neat piece of history to have in your collection especially since you have the story with it.
