Why this book matters:Uncanny X-Men #138 serves as the emotional epilogue to one of the most famous stories in Marvel history.Following Jean Grey’s death in X-Men #137, Scott Summers attends her funeral and reflects on the history of the X-Men—from the original team through the arrival of the all-new, all-different lineup. Overcome by grief, Cyclops decides to leave the group, marking the end of a major era for the title.
The issue functions almost like a visual history of the X-Men up to 1980, revisiting important moments and earlier covers while giving the Dark Phoenix Saga a quieter, deeply personal conclusion. MyComicShop describes the story as Scott reliving the team’s history before departing after Jean’s death.
It is not one of the expensive centerpiece issues of the saga, but it is an essential companion to them—and one of the most emotionally memorable chapters of the Claremont/Byrne run.Condition:
Raw comic, not professionally graded.
In my opinion, this copy is approximately GD/VG 3.0.
I have collected and graded comics for decades, but grading is subjective. Please examine all supplied photographs carefully and determine the condition for yourself. The photographs are part of the description.
Visible defects include:
- Noticeable cover soiling and staining
- Spine wear and multiple color-breaking spine creases
- Edge and corner wear
- General surface and handling wear
- Creasing and bends
- Some waviness through the book
- Wear and discoloration along the back cover
- Age-related page discoloration
The interior-page photograph makes the pages appear slightly darker than they do under normal viewing conditions. In person, the page color is somewhat lighter.
The book appears complete, with the cover and centerfold attached.
No pressing or cleaning has been attempted.
Please review every photograph carefully for the exact condition of the covers, spine, corners, edges, pages, and interior.Shipping:The comic will be bagged, boarded, securely reinforced, and shipped with tracking.Combined shipping is available when practical for purchases made by the same buyer and shipped to the same address.
