U.S.ARMY Woodland Camouflage M65 FIELD COAT
US Military Issue GI M-65 Field Jacket
In the late 1960s, the army introduced a new field jacket, the M65. This jacket was to replace the existing M-51 and M43 field jackets, from the Korean War era, and World War II, respectively. The M65 field jacket was used throughout the Vietnam War, and much after. It was only recently phased out, with the introduction of the ECWCS layering system.
The M-65 had a number of improvements over the existing field jacktes. Among these improvements were the built-n stowa-away hood which zips into the collar, extra pockets, shoulder epaulets. The closure buttons were also replaced with a brass zipper, to allow soldiers to open and close their jackets more quickly and easily. The detachable liner was included to allow dealing with fluctuating teperatures easily. NyCo Shell (50% Cotton / 50% Nylon twill)
