Vintage U.S. military-style leather accessory and spare-parts case corresponding closely to the M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) accessory case.
Period U.S. military documentation describes the M1918 accessory/spare-parts case as a box-shaped leather case measuring approximately 5½ inches long, 3½ inches high and 2¼ inches deep, intended to carry smaller BAR spare parts and accessories. This example closely matches those dimensions and the known construction style.
Brown leather construction with stitched sides and metal front closure fitting. No clearly readable manufacturer or date marking was found, so the exact maker and production year are unknown.
Important condition issue: the leather closure strap has broken off and is included loose. The case has substantial age-related wear, dryness, cracking, abrasions, discoloration and edge/stitching wear throughout. Interior also shows age, staining and debris from long-term storage.
Case was found containing assorted metal balls/ball bearings; these are not included and are not believed to be original BAR accessories.
