I call this item my \"mystery shaker\". In my 40 years of collecting vintage barware, I have never seen this item again. Not sure as to why. It is an outstanding example of 1930s Streamline Moderne design.
This shaker features a set of three vertical ribbed sections (for grip) on heavy, clear, molded glass with a HUGE black bakelite top with a ribbed collar (again for easy gripping) and aerodynamic, finned dome cap.
Turned sideways, it reminds me of period designs for locomotives with their bullet-shaped noses and distinct raised stabilization fins running down the top – much like legendary industrial designer Raymond Loewy\'s PRR S1 / T1 or Henry Dreyfuss\'s New York Central Hudson design featuring a prominent vertical fin over it spherical nose cone (both shown).
9.25\" tall and 4\" in diameter at the shoulder. Two pieces. It is stamped on the bottom: \"SHAKET-MFG-CO\", \"PAT. PEND.\", \"HEAVY DUTY\", \"CHICAGO\".
This item has been in my personal collection since the early-1990s and has been very well cared for. It is in amazing condition for its nearly-90 years of age, as noted. I have been unable to find any information on this shaker or the manufacturer, Shaket. If anyone has additional information on this item, I welcome it. I have priced it for its pristine condition and as an outstanding example of 1930s Streamline Moderne design.
