UNIQUE Design - 1940s GOTHIC Hanging METAL & CELLULOID Panel CHANDELIER Fixture
This is a most unusual early twisted wire metal frame hanging light that I have for sale which was a recent estate find.
Has the much heavier hanging chain too which tells me its an earlier light.
Its an extraordinary Gothic or Mediterranean style octagonal shape hanging light with 8 early thick resiny celluloid bakelite plastic type molded panel inserts, hard to describe material - creates a simply BEAUTIFUL simulated stained glass effect, the colors are positively STUNNING - Check it out !!!
Cleaned up very nicely too, was full of \"straight out of the barn grime\" when found.
Cool looking S-shaped electrical light fixture and both sockets are early brown bakelite.
Its about 24 inches in overall height of the twisted wire scroll work, about 20 inches across the widest points.
Its an absolutely beautiful and stunning piece of unusual lighting that will add a touch of elegance to any room if you have the high ceilings.
Its in pretty good overall condition, does have one cracked panel across the corner, and one other panel with a small edge stress line, I think this earlier form of plastic was more prone to cracking, all metal surfaces and hanging chain are very nice, has one old wire wrapped type repair to a scroll wire junction point, an easy fix with a spot welder but seem very solid right now, maybe some light surface rust in spots that could be cleaned better.
Lamp is in excellent working condition too, I have tested it as-is right now and no real concerns for safety, wiring is good with no fraying at all.
Note: the 2 light bulbs will not be included but are a standard base bulb.
The panel inserts have a drop of hot melt glue on each metal holding tab just to stop any pane rattling, easily removed if desired.
Please see all the many photos provided for the exact condition on this item.
