The Maxx #6 / Vanguard #3 — 1993 Image Comics Flip Book
Two comics. Two covers. One gloriously strange slice of early Image Comics history.
This October 1993 issue of The Maxx #6 features Sam Kieth\'s unmistakable artwork: a surreal, distorted close-up of the title character surrounded by an explosion of green, turquoise, and black textures.
But flip the comic over and there\'s another feature waiting.
Vanguard #3 — Flip-Book Feature
The reverse presents Vanguard #3, featuring an action-packed confrontation with Erik Larsen\'s Savage Dragon. The artwork captures the exuberant, larger-than-life aesthetic of the early Image Comics universe, complete with flying debris, enormous fists, and the sort of superhero combat that rarely leaves a building standing.
Unlike an ordinary back-cover advertisement, this is a genuine flip-book format, with the second feature printed in reverse orientation.
