Condition:Acceptable-Poor
Spine intact. Well worn edges at top and bottom. Library label towards bottom of spine attached by tape which teaches front and back board. Frayed with tears. Front board has gilt Sybil with some fading. Dark areas and stains on front. Edge wear noted with some fraying and some tears at all edges. Endpapers with some tears. Writing on front free endpapers with library code numbers and letters. Previous owner has name stamped on free front papers. Another previous owner has name and Masonic chapter written above title. There is an embossed stamp from Masonic Oriental Consistory Library, Chicago, Illinois on the pages.
Both hinges cracked. There are loose pages which are only slightly still attached at the top from pages 75-95, and 99-118. Binding is loose. Some smudges noted on back free endpaper. No other writing or underlining noted on pages. No foxing. Pages clean. Aged toning. Paper edges appear to have darkened area, gilt faded. Back cover has stains, some dark spots.
Provenance
This copy of the book has an interesting History. It comes from the Scottish Rite Cathedral Association in Chicago, Illinois. In 2012, Scott, my dearly departed fiancé (2017) purchased this book from Scottish Rite Cathedral Library when it was selling books before the organization moved initially to Bloomington, Illinois. I accompanied him to the last event held at Scottish Rite Cathedral. The night concluded with the library book sale.
