Vintage European-style stoneware water-seal fermentation crock complete with matching domed lid and original two-piece ceramic weights.
Designed for fermenting sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, vegetables, and other brined foods. The water-filled moat creates an airlock while the ceramic weights keep contents submerged below the brine during fermentation. This traditional design has remained popular for generations and is still widely used today.
Condition is excellent overall with no chips or cracks observed. Light surface wear, glaze imperfections, and minor signs of age and normal use are present. The underside has an impressed maker’s mark, though the manufacturer has not been positively identified.
