 Stevens & Williams Art Glass Antique English Uranium Peachblow Applied Rigaree Acanthus Leaf & Frill 4" Pair Of Cabinet Vases 1884–1890

This matching pair is in Excellent Antique Condition, with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Flea Bites. NOTE: There is light shelf wear and minor scratches on the base. The base wear is consistent with age. The glass is clean, and both pieces display beautifully. See pictures for details.

These vases were originally made as a matching pair and display exceptionally well together, so we have chosen to keep them together and offer them as a pair.ITEM DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, matched pair of antique English art glass vases was produced by Stevens & Williams of the Stourbridge glassworks, dating to the early production period of peachblow glass, circa 1884–1890. Each vase features a softly shaded peachblow or Burmese-type body transitioning from warm peach tones at the rim into a creamy satin ground.

The bodies are elaborately decorated with hand-applied glass work, including a vivid green uranium rigaree band, a red threaded trailing accent, and a sculptural amber acanthus-style frilled lower border. The applied decoration is freeform and organic, giving each piece a lively and dimensional appearance while remaining a true matched pair.

Under UV light, the uranium content in the applied decoration produces a glowing reaction, adding to the visual appeal and confirming the use of early period glass formulas. These small cabinet vases were produced as decorative art glass and remain highly desirable for both display and collection.ITEM CONDITION
This pair is in Excellent Antique Condition, with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Flea Bites. NOTE: There is light shelf wear, minor surface wear, and some light scratches on the bases from age and normal use. The bases retain a fire-polished pontil with some roughness in the finish, consistent with hand-blown Victorian production. Both pieces are structurally sound and display beautifully.ITEM DETAILS

PATTERN & DESIGN
These vases exemplify early Stourbridge art glass design during the introduction period of peachblow glass, featuring a softly shaded Burmese-style body enhanced with elaborate applied decoration. The combination of uranium green rigaree, red threading, and amber acanthus-style frilled glass creates a layered and highly textured surface. The organic, sculptural application of the glass elements reflects the artistic, hand-worked techniques used by Stevens & Williams during the late Victorian period. These measure approx 4" High x 4 1/2" Wide to the widest part. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Shaker.
