Offered for sale is an original 1997 Scholastic Star Wars Missions Starter Set featuring Book #1, Assault on Yavin Four by Ryder Windham. This interactive Star Wars adventure combines a collectible novel with a role-playing mission game set in the Star Wars Legends universe. Designed for fans of the original trilogy, players assume the roles of Rebel heroes as they complete missions immediately following the destruction of the first Death Star in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
This set is in excellent pre-owned collector condition and appears to have seen little, if any, actual gameplay. The carrying case is clean and displays very well with only light shelf and storage wear. The books have crisp pages and clean covers with minimal handling. The Mission Points Scoring Pad appears unused, and the cards retain sharp corners with very little wear. The fold-out mission maps remain in excellent condition and were only partially unfolded for photographs to avoid unnecessary handling. The original dice and plastic storage components are also included.
Included with this set are the original Darth Vader carrying case, original plastic storage tray, plastic divider panels, Assault on Yavin Four Book #1 by Ryder Windham, Mission Guide, Mission Log, Mission Points Scoring Pad, original six-sided die, original twelve-sided die, approximately thirty original Mission Cards including Character Cards, Vehicle Cards, Equipment Cards, and Skill Cards, along with several original fold-out mission maps/blueprints. Only the items shown in the photographs are included.
Character cards shown include Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, R2-D2, C-3PO, Admiral Ackbar, Wedge Antilles, Biggs Darklighter, General Jan Dodonna, Mon Mothma, and additional Rebel Alliance characters. Vehicle, equipment, and skill cards are also included, providing a complete interactive gaming experience.
Originally published by Scholastic in 1997 under license from Lucasfilm Ltd., the Star Wars Missions series has become a sought-after collectible among Star Wars fans and collectors. The series is part of the Star Wars Legends timeline and follows the Rebel Alliance during the period immediately after the Battle of Yavin.
