Fine Stanley No.4 Plane. Early Type 2 probably made in the first two years of the 1869-1872 run - has no \"Bailey\" on the adjusting nut. 85% or better Jappaning. Fine Rosewood with only very fine checking on front knob. Even brown patina over lever cap and body. No cracks on handle. Sharp type J Stanley logo blade. Plane is tuned and produces fine shavings as is. An unrestored, no damage plane. A handsome and rare example of an early Stanley No.4 made while Leonard Bailey was on the Stanley payroll.
