Nice Vintage Stanley Marked# 720Made in USA 1\" Paring Chisel 1\" Size is 1\" x 13-1/16\" OAL Handle 4-3/8\" to socket, blade 6\" edge to shoulder.Sharp and honed to 8000 grit on stones.With 720 size Deep Red Hickory Handle that is 5\" Long including socket cone. The leather striking caps are worn from use and are basically one deep. The chisel has some minor staining and pitting from use, storage and age. Primary and secondary bevels were honed from 400 grit to 8,000 grit. This chisel is ready to go back to work or display. An edge protector has been added for safe storage and handling.
Introduced in 1930 and discontinued in 1969, Stanley 720 Paring Chisels became a standard for cabinetmaker and patternmaker use. Their long profile and thin but beefy blade made them excellent for close and precise work, but only with a mallet. Seldom seen in home garages or small shops, today\'s 720 survivors were snatched mostly from high end shops, patternmaker\'s chests and slow moving inventory found in old hardware stores or distributor warehouses.
