During the Afghan War, military bands often performed directly in front of soldiers in places of deployment, during rest or after difficult combat operations. Their music helped the soldiers feel the support of the Motherland, distract from the war and maintain moral balance.
Orchestra musicians, like other military personnel, served in the army, wore uniforms, participated in military rituals, and honored heroes. The military orchestra in those years was not just a musical unit — it was a symbol of the strength, unity, and spiritual resilience of the Soviet army even in the most difficult periods of its history.
