Small Hand Carved Wood Head Bust Figurine Sculpture, Black, 1 Pack For Sale

Unknown 1970s African Carved Wooden BustThis hand-carved wooden head represents the popular mid-to-late 20th-century tradition of African artisan woodcarving, often produced in East and West Africa for cultural exchange and the expanding international travel market. The sculpture displays classical stylized features, including an elongated cranium, finely incised linear coiffure, and a textured columnar pedestal base. Carved from dense dark hardwood, the piece exhibits smooth burnishing across the facial planes alongside deliberate chisel work along the base. Items of this nature gained widespread decorative popularity during the 1970s and 1980s as global folk art became a staple of modern interior design. Today, these carvings remain accessible collectible artifacts representing regional carving traditions and mid-century decorative trends.
