Up for your consideration is a character doll Lamplighter from the Simpich Caroler Collection. The lamplighter is dressed in a brown wool coat, scarf, and hat and is cheerfully holding a lamplighter pole used for illuminating the gaslit streets of London on a brisk winter’s night. Simpich dolls are prized for their expressive clay faces, meticulous hand-tailored period clothing, and exquisite attention to detail. This specific piece is particularly sought after due to its limited run and detailed character work. The 12.5” doll was handcrafted in the United States (2000), and is in excellent vintage condition with only minor scuffs on the wooden stand (see photos). Simpich high-quality craftsmanship makes this piece highly collectible.
