The partnership began when the museum's exhibition team visited Simon Pearce’s facility in Windsor, Vermont. Intrigued by the science behind glassmaking, the teams collaborated to showcase how "science meets design".
The Prototypes: Simon Pearce’s design team, led by Vice President of Design James Murray, developed seven glass "Elements" prototypes specifically for the project.
The Exhibit Focus: The museum used these physical prototypes to interpret the complex physics, chemistry, and artisan processes behind glassblowing, revealing how raw molten material transforms into precise, functional shapes.Fire is the element that transforms the other elements. Glassblowers also need fire to create the glass itself. They capture the gesture and movement of flames in glass. The item is sculpted with the energy and flair of a burning flame. Each piece turns out entirely unique and can be illuminated on a LED base.The glassblowers who worked on this piece are Dwight Yoder, Dave Osburn and Steve White.This signed very rare and hard to find Fire sculpture is in great used condition. It is 9” H x 6.5” W .
