Schrade Uncle Henry 153UH Golden Spike Hunting Knife

Classic Fixed Blade • Staglon-Style Handle • Leather Sheath • Sharpening Stone Included

A LEGENDARY HUNTING KNIFE DESIGN WITH OVER 50 YEARS OF HISTORY

Some hunting knives become favorites for a season. Others develop a following that lasts generations.

The Schrade Uncle Henry 153UH Golden Spike belongs to the second category.

First introduced in 1973, the Golden Spike became one of the most recognizable fixed-blade designs in the Uncle Henry family. Its combination of traditional sporting-knife appearance, comfortable grip, practical blade shape and convenient sharpening-stone sheath helped establish its lasting reputation.

Offered here is a very attractive Schrade Uncle Henry 153UH Golden Spike hunting knife, accompanied by a brown leather belt sheath and its own sharpening stone.

You will receive the exact knife, sheath and stone pictured.

THE GOLDEN SPIKE STORY

Schrade’s history traces back to the American cutlery industry of the early 20th century, particularly the knife-making tradition of New York.

The Uncle Henry line was developed to offer traditional-looking, well-equipped sporting knives that appealed to hunters, outdoorsmen and collectors.

When Schrade introduced the 153UH Golden Spike in 1973, it created a hunting-knife design that would remain popular for decades.

The original American-made Golden Spike continued in production until Schrade’s original manufacturing operations closed in 2004. The famous design subsequently continued under later ownership.

The Golden Spike’s enduring appeal is easy to understand: it looks like a traditional hunting knife, feels substantial, and incorporates practical features intended for outdoor use.

This example bears the Uncle Henry SCHRADE trademark and 153UH model marking. Its exact production date and country of manufacture have not been verified.

DESIGNED FOR THE HUNTER

The Golden Spike’s distinctive upswept clip-point blade was designed with the outdoorsman in mind.

Its gently curved cutting edge and pronounced tip provide a versatile blade profile traditionally associated with field dressing, skinning, slicing and general camp tasks.

The handle features a classic stag-antler appearance, with molded finger contours designed for a comfortable, secure grip.

Brass-colored fittings and decorative black-and-white handle spacers complete the traditional sporting-knife appearance.

It is an attractive design that looks equally at home in a hunting collection, cabin display or outdoor equipment collection.

THE SHEATH HAS A SPECIAL FEATURE

One of the most interesting details of the Golden Spike is its leather sheath.

Rather than simply providing a place to carry the knife, the sheath incorporates a separate pocket designed to hold a sharpening stone.

The idea was straightforward: hunters could carry their knife and a compact sharpening tool together, without needing a separate sharpening kit.

This example includes the sharpening stone!

The brown leather sheath also features a belt loop and retaining strap with snap closure.

Together, the knife, sheath and stone make an appealing, coordinated hunting-knife set.

CONDITION — PLEASE REVIEW PHOTOS

This knife presents very nicely overall.

The blade has a clean, bright appearance with clearly visible manufacturer and model markings. Light surface marks and signs of handling or storage may be present.

The stag-pattern handle displays attractive amber, cream and dark-brown coloring, with the traditional textured appearance that makes the Golden Spike so recognizable.

The brass-colored guard and pommel display light cosmetic marks and areas of discoloration consistent with handling or storage.

The brown leather sheath shows visible wear, creasing and aging to the leather and stitching areas. The retaining strap, sharpening-stone pocket and sharpening stone are pictured.

The knife has not been professionally graded or authenticated for its manufacturing date. Original factory edge condition and sharpening history are unknown.

Please carefully examine all photographs, including close-ups, for the best representation of condition.

WHY ADD THIS ONE TO YOUR COLLECTION?

The Golden Spike offers something increasingly appealing in today’s knife market: a traditional hunting-knife design with a genuine history behind it.

Its appeal isn’t based on complicated modern features or unusual styling.

It’s the classic combination of an upswept hunting blade, stag-style handle, brass-colored fittings and leather belt sheath.

For Schrade collectors, it’s an instantly recognizable Uncle Henry pattern.

For outdoorsmen, it represents a practical style of hunting knife that has remained popular for more than five decades.

For someone building a traditional hunting or sporting-knife collection, it makes an attractive display piece.

And with the leather sheath and sharpening stone included, this example offers more than the knife alone.
