The body and frog were cleaned very well. Body is missing some japanning but that be said any area missing japanning was treated with a metal oxide rust inhibitor which absorbs into and coat/seals them to help protect from corrosion. I have used this process for many years and have had excellent results.
All the hardware was cleaned and oiled. All tread holes are cleaned and oiled
The Rosewood Tote & knob are very nice. I did have to repair the tote it very solid and looks great. Both were then waxed and polished several times giving them a very smooth natural finish. When at all possible I will always repair original vintage Stanley wood. If done correctly there is absolutely nothing wrong with a repaired tote or knob. I fell using vintage Stanley wood is just as important as any other part to keeping these planes authentic.
The sole was hand lapped on a granite slab. Its crucial that the sole is lapped correctly to get a superb working plane.
Cheeks were lapped and the rail\'s were cleaned and smoothed out.
Frog face & seats lapped.
Cap iron was cleaned and lapped.
The Cutter was lapped and sharpened. Its extremely sharp and cuts superb shavings leaving a very smooth finish on the wood surface. I did replace the original cutter with a newer type.
The Lever cap was cleaned then lapped at its contact point.

This is a superb working plane that will be a asset to any work shop or collection

Lapping a plane correctly is extremely important using a belt sander is fastest way to destroy a plane and buffing the cheeks and sole does absolutely nothing for a plane other than giving it a shine.
