The body and frog were stripped then refinished. I use a superb finish which I apply many coats to get a very thick finish which is then baked on. Its a very durable finish.
All the hardware was cleaned and oiled. All tread holes are cleaned and oiled
The Rosewood Tote & knob are very nice. I did have to repaired a break in the tote. Its very solid and looks great. I will always do my best to use original Stanley wood versus making a replacement. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a well repaired tote or knob. And as always I stand behind my repair 100 percent. Both were cleaned then waxed several times to get a very smooth natural finish.
The sole was lapped \"correctly\". All lapping is done by hand on a large granite slab.
Cheeks were lapped and the rail\'s were cleaned and smoothed out. I did have to repair a hairline crack in one cheek. Its as solid as ever and as I have always done I give a 100 percent guarantee on the repair. I have repaired many planes through the years and have never had a single issue with a repair. Many repair I have done are for shop owner that use there planes extensively. If you know what your doing a repair will never be a issue. The crack is weld inside and outside. It would be utterly ridiculous to trash a plane for such a small issue.
Frog face & seats lapped.
Cap iron was cleaned and lapped.
The Cutter was lapped and sharpened. Its extremely sharp and cuts superb shavings leaving a very smooth finish on the wood surface. At some point in the planes life the original cutter was replaced with a sweetheart cutter.
The Lever cap was cleaned then lapped at its contact point.

This is a superb working plane that will be a asset to any work shop or collection. Your getting what amounts to a life time warrantee on the repair not sure what more you could ask for.
