S1125. Chinese Emperor Xuanzong Fat Horse Sculpture. Decor statue.
Around 745, Emperor Xuanzong officially made Yang Guifei aka Yang Yuhuan, aka Taizhen his imperial consort. It is an intriguing story primarily because Yang was the wife emperor’s son. But it gets better as the Emperor had his hands full with a number of her unorthodox behaviors.
She had a full and fleshy figure . . . with lychee fruit being her favorite food. That fruit was delivered to her by the imperial courier’s fastest horses. And, it took a sturdy imperial horse to handle her weight. Hence Emperor Xuanzong’s fat horse.
17.5\" long x 15.5\" tall x ~7.5\" wide. This plump equine is cast in quality designer resin with a terra cotta finish. Cracks add to the ambiance.
Super Fun piece!
