Vintage RPPC – Rural Valley National Bank, Rural Valley, Pennsylvania
Real photo view of the Rural Valley National Bank building, captioned "Rural Valley, Pa." in white lettering on the front. The name "RURAL VALLEY NATIONAL BANK" runs across the stone band above the ground floor, and the large front window is lettered "BANK." The corner section is faced in rusticated stone with three arched upper windows, one lettered for the I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows) with the three-link emblem and "No. 766." The long side of the building has arched upper windows and awnings over the lower windows. A small group of men and boys stand at the bank entrance, with a barrel on the sidewalk, wooden utility poles along the street, bare trees, and a frame building behind. The Rural Valley National Bank was chartered in 1902 and operated until 1934, when it was succeeded by the Peoples National Bank of Rural Valley. Unused and unposted with a divided back and AZO stamp box, circa 1907–1918. A strong piece for collectors of Rural Valley and Armstrong County, Pennsylvania topographical postcards, small-town bank history, or Odd Fellows (IOOF) fraternal memorabilia.
