A replica of Ancient Byzantine religious figure Yuhanna the Baptist (John the Baptist) from Hagia Sophia church-museum in Istanbul. This icon is made on a very old piece of wood taken from ruins of and old church in Western Anatolia. The figure of Yuhanna is printed on paper then glued to wood, covered entirely with real gold leaf. After hand made decorations, such as the colored dots and some tar ageing, the piece is finished with an application of a cracking layer and varnish. This icon is completely hand-manufactured. The size measures 21x31x2cm (8.268" x 12.205" x .79").Due to the old piece of wood, and to maintain its natural original condition, the piece is not a perfect rectangle.
