THE BATTLE OF VISBY • 1361
The Battle of Visby took place on the Swedish island of Gotland in 1361 and left behind one of the most remarkable archaeological records of medieval conflict.
Centuries later, excavations of the associated mass graves revealed exceptionally preserved human remains displaying evidence of severe injuries.
These discoveries have provided historians and archaeologists with an extraordinary insight into the realities of medieval combat and life in fourteenth-century Europe.
THE FAMOUS FACIAL TRAUMA
The defining feature of this skull is the dramatic trauma running through the facial skeleton.
The injury is physically incorporated into the anatomy of the replica, creating fractured and disrupted facial structure rather than simply adding a superficial effect to a standard skull.
It gives the model the instantly recognisable appearance associated with the famous Visby warrior and makes it particularly striking when displayed from a three-quarter angle.
SIZE & SCALE
This is a true life size adult human skull replica.
Approx. 7" Long × 5" Wide × 5.5" High
A separate lower jaw is included, allowing the skull to be displayed naturally with the mouth open or closed.
Its full adult scale gives the piece considerably more presence than miniature skull models and makes it suitable for both display and anatomical reference.
