This antique lidded beer stein has been made in Germany around 1900s by J.W. Remy. Under mold 2026 design attributed to Richard Riemerschmid.The text forming the principal decoration on this stein is the first part of the Latin phrase“Gaudeamus igitur juvenes dum sumus” (Let us rejoice while we are young), taken from a song entitled “De Brevitate Vita” (The Brevity of Life) that has been popular among German students since the 13th century.The body is stoneware with capacity of 0.5 liters, the lid is pewter and overall beer stein around 6 inches height.
