Unique and beautiful hand made Wish Keeper by Matthew Lovein. A brief bio of the artist, who was born in 1949, is included, as shown in the photos.
This piece is called Haiku, and it has been in my family since 1999.
The main ceramic piece measures 10" tall and about 15 1/2" wide. The black base measures 3" tall. The top measures 4" tall. So, the total height, from base to top, is 17"
As described in a personal email message to me from Mr. Lovein in 2018, "it is a Copper/Jade raku fired ceramic." The glaze is Mr. Lovein's own formula. During the firing in the kiln to 1800 F., and then in the post firing, the vase is fired in a reduction(starved for air) environment which allows for the glaze to become these beautiful colors shown in the photos.
The top, along with the other parts, is handmade. The metal embellishments are copper. The separate ceramic base, shown in two of the photos, is included.
The Classic Wish Keeperâ„¢ was made in 1992 from a dream the artist had. These pieces are original in design and the Wish Keeperâ„¢ name is a Trade Mark.
Includes 5 small parchment papers imprinted with the symbol for "good fortune." The parchment paper is where you put your written wish, and then place it in one of the suspended chambers, until your wish comes true. And then do it again. With the Haiku you have 3 chambers!
This will make an extraordinary holiday gift for someone very special - even for yourself!
