Another from my father’s collection of vintage magic tricks. I have fond memories of this trick as a child in the 70s! It really did seem like magic when the clown was colored!
***
Uncommon vintage stage and parlor magic illusion featuring a black-and-white clown picture that magically transforms into full color when the picture is withdrawn from its wooden frame.
This is a substantial piece, measuring approximately 18” × 11”, designed for an audience rather than close-up magic. The trick appears to be a version of the collectible “Visible Painting” illusion by Repro Magic, although the manufacturer has not been definitively identified.
These large-format vintage magic props are not commonly encountered on the resale market. A nearly identical Repro Magic clown illusion measuring 18” × 11½” sold at a specialist magic sale in December 2008 for $176.
An interesting and increasingly difficult-to-find piece of traditional magic apparatus, suitable for collectors of vintage magic, stage performers, or enthusiasts of classic illusions.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition. Please examine all photographs for cosmetic details and contents. Original instructions are not confirmed to be included.
Sold as pictured.
I do combine shipping if you’re interested in getting other pieces.
